Nurturing the Spirit: Raising Feral, Country Girls

Hey, y'all! This evening, I want to share a bit about my experience raising my two wild, feral, and oh-so-stubborn country girls.

From the moment they could walk, these girls have been off like a shot, exploring every nook and cranny anywhere we found ourselves. They are the kind of kids who come home covered head to toe in mud, with rocks and bugs in their pockets and a sparkle in their eyes. And let me tell you, as a mom, it's been quite the adventure!

One thing I've learned is that trying to tame their wild spirits is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle – impossible and likely to get you shocked! Instead, I've learned to embrace their wildness while gently guiding them towards becoming strong, independent young women.

Stubbornness, a trait they definitely inherited from...their dad, can be both a blessing and a challenge. It means they won't back down from a challenge and will fiercely stand up for what they believe in. But it also means they can be a bit...resistant to direction, let's say.

I've found that the key is to give them choices and let them feel like they have some control over their lives, even if it's just choosing between two outfits or deciding which chores to tackle first. It's all about picking your battles and knowing when to stand firm and when to let them spread their wings.

I also make sure to surround them with strong female role models who can show them that being strong and independent doesn't mean being alone. Whether it's one of their grandmothers, aunts, or family friends, these women help shape my girls' understanding of what it means to be a woman in the world today.

At the end of the day, raising feral, country girls is all about finding that balance between nurturing their spirit and teaching them the skills they'll need to navigate the world. It's a wild ride, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Here's to raising strong women!

'Til next time!
